Claire Jenson has not been having the best year of her life. She is still
trying to deal with the untimely death of her husband, the results of a
heart attack. Claire was trying to move on with her life, when her
nineteen-year old daughter, True decides to move from their little town to
the big city, Chicago. A mother's worst nightmare comes true. On a hot,
august day Claire gets that phone call. Her sweet daughter has been
murdered. The case baffles the police because her daughter had no
enemies, boyfriend or many friends since she led a quiet life of a loner.
The pieces of the puzzle come together as Claire discover her daughter's
fondness for chatting on the computer with strangers. Detective Marty
Slade and Claire begin working together on solving the mystery of Claire's
murderer. Then there is the attraction blooming between Claire and Marty!
Murder Online is a bit extra scary because it is not that far off from
reality. Today, it is common knowledge that not all people linked together
on the internet are nice or have innocent motives. The chance of meeting a
predator is likely if one is not very cautious. The intensity of the plot,
along with the character development has given me much respect for the
author. Beth Andersen takes the reader down that harrowing path of cyber
sex and chat room that are not for the innocent. This book tells the
lengths that a parent will go through to seek revenge for their child, and
the danger that lurks all around. The suspense of who could be possibly
the killer will keep most reader glued to the pages. I would recommend
this novel to those that enjoy a very good, mysterious story.
