Madison “Maddie" Blake is dealing from the pain of now being a divorced
woman. After ten years of marriage it is hard to adjust to sleeping alone
at night, and no longer being part of a couple. She realizes her husband
was no good with his consistent cheating but hurts as a majority of women
do after a divorce. Her best friend drags her to a party where in an
unusual way, she meets a very handsome man named Cole Ashton. Madison
begins to explore her feelings for Cole then joins a group where divorced
women come together to talk and heal. We are introduced to Katy, the head
of the group, Victoria the take charge type of woman and then the lovely
but formerly abused Maxine. Unlikely friendships grow and Maddie learns a
lot about herself in the process.
Madison is a realistically written character. Her sadness of feeling like
she failed in her marriage, the anger and bitterness of how her ex-husband
treated her throughout the years all leave a huge impact on the reader.
The character Maxine really touched me because of all the heartache and
physical pain she went through because of her rotten ex husband. This very
sexy story, will have you laughing, frowning and most of all thinking.
This is a great book for those that are in the process of a divorce or
know someone who is. It does not dwell on the negatives on ending a
marriage, but that is a growing process. Watching Maddie grow from an
unhappy wife into a carefree single woman is enlightening. Well done,
Dakota Cassidy.
