A
wicked baron has kidnapped Lady Jocelyn, a gently reared girl who wishes
to take her vows as a nun. Thrown in the dungeon to await her ransom, she
is frightened of the dark and the unknown. It is only the disembodied
voice of a fellow prisoner that keeps her from going insane with fear.
Sir
Alard has spent months in this loathsome dungeon, filled with regret for
the life he feels he has wasted. He is due to be hanged in the morning by
the baron, who also happens to be his uncle. When he hears the sweet
voice of a woman in the next cell, he is sure he is the one going insane.
The
two spend the night together, with a wall between them but a connection is
made. Sir Alard can’t believe a passionate woman like her belongs in a
convent so he takes her on a voyage of self-discovery to show her what she
would be missing. In the morning everything changes, and Jocelyn and Alard
have a chance to spend time together without a wall between them. Jocelyn
is convent bound and Alard must convince her that their one night together
could extend to a lifetime.
While I have read Historical Romances before they are not my favorite
genre. However, this book I really liked for it caught my attention with
the fun title. The by-play between Jocelyn and Alard as they get to know
each other is warm and light-hearted while the passion and romance is
sweet and sensual. Ms. Winn has penned a wonderful romantic story, and I
look forward to reading others by her.
