Tatiana Branigan was raped ten years ago.
Instead of supporting her like a loving husband, Von threw her out.
During the ten years that have followed, the rapist has stalked Tati
making her life a nightmare. Now--on the tenth anniversary of the attack
he has chosen to pay her another visit.
Von Branigan still wakes up at night reaching for
his angel. He can't believe Tati betrayed him the way she did. Since
that night Von has led a lonely miserable existence. His life changes
once again when the police phone him to inquire if he knows Tatiana
Branigan.
Tati is reserved when Von appears at the police
station after she's attacked again. She isn't sure if she can deal with
her emotions and knows things can never be the same between them. When
Von hears Tati has been assaulted he asks her to return home with him to
recuperate figuring it's the least he can do since she saved his life at
one time. What he hadn't counted on is his feelings for her.
Joan Joyce Massa is a tremendous talent. Her
Hopeless Hearts is written with passion and pulls at the hearts of its
readers. It had me in tears, while at other times it had me on the edge
of me seat, smiling or angry. The growth of both protagonists is
heartening. Von started out so immature I wanted to strangle him but I
came to love his willingness to put Tatiana's needs before all else. My
hearted ached for Tati. She went through a hellacious experience and
prevailed, albeit with emotional scars she continued to work through. Ms.
Massa's secondary antagonist character, Ri, is heinous and spiteful. He's
so realistic it's almost scary yet in the end I felt Joan Joyce Massa's,
Hopeless Hearts, was one of the best E-books I've read in a long time.
