Eric
Jackson doesn’t have it easy. He works as a ghost buster, which has its
share of danger, and does editing for one of the erotic publishers in
town, which has its perks. Unfortunately, it’s his personal life that is
the hardest. He has to deal with a jealous ghost that has attached
himself to him, ruining any chance at him getting close to a man. The
only way he can is by dreaming about one… the author Brandon Archer.
Brandon Archer is only a picture on a book jacket, but somehow he makes
Eric long for things he can’t even see. Then Brandon’s latest creation is
accepted by Eric’s publishing house, and Brandon meets Eric through
emails, when Eric is assigned as his editor.
As
Eric gets to know Brandon through emails, he also has to deal with a nasty
spirit who has possessed one of his colleagues and called up a soul eating
demon. Just when he thinks he has that licked, Max… his jealous ghost
succeeds in destroying his budding relationship with his dream man,
Brandon. They both get a second chance, determined that neither a soul
eater nor a pesky ghost will stop them from searching out their heart’s
desire.
This
was a great book. The paranormal aspects balanced well with the romantic
storyline. Eric is shown as a resourceful man who longs for a normal
relationship, away from the ghosts he has to deal with on a day to day
basis. Brandon, who we know only through emails at first, seems to be a
man who also is looking for that special someone. While some of the
storyline involving the soul eaters was a little confusing to me, I loved
the by-play between Max the ghost and Eric. I enjoyed the romance between
Brandon and Eric, and since this is a follow up to D.J. Manley’s first
book, Christmas with Wistan, I want to go read that one too, so I
can get to know Brandon better. I highly recommend this book to anyone
who enjoys M/M situations that involve romance as well as highly charged
sex.
