Lady Mildred Derby is a mysterious and dangerous woman. She is a notorious a and famous writer because of her scandalous but torrid novels of erotica/horror. Her household consists mainly of men and they cater to her every need. She has a very unusual taste in her food and will stop at nothing to keep her appetite well fed. After her last meal, she is very upset with the toughness of her "meat”. Lady Mildred decides it is time to get some help with the preparation of her next meal. This is where the lovely but bored Cassie comes into the picture. She is excited by Lady Mildred's writings and thrilled to be invited to her house, along with some friends for dinner. The outcome of this has something to do with Cassie's very special necklace and couple other interesting factors.

Sahara Kelly has delivered endless tingles of shivers and shudders down this reader's spine. I was appalled yet fascinated by the character of Lady Mildred and found myself rooting for Cassia’s story that is a different style of writing for Sahara that I confess to really have enjoyed. I hope that Sahara will try her hand at crafting more books of horror. Definitely a novel to consider for those that enjoys a scary thrill.
