Jade Xe is a professor in Echo City, US with a
fledgling ability to manipulate the wind. She rarely uses the power for
the study of hurricanes is the focus of her life.
Raiden comes to Echo City to take care of some
undercover business as Black Lightning.
He comes upon Jade as she is trying to hold off an attacker.
Raiden, a secret operative who likes life without
complications and his attraction to Jade is one he hadn’t counted on.
When Thane Denton asks him to go undercover to check out a charismatic
leader and Jade comes looking for Black Lightning his life spins off in a
direction he hadn’t counted on.
The death of Maeve, Jade’s sister is all the
catalyst she needs to begin training her power and with Raiden’s help she
learns how to focus and direct her ability to manipulate the air. Is her
motive of revenge enough to defeat Amidurah or will it be her undoing?
Sydney Somers does an admirable job opening this
four book series with Jade and Raiden working to stop the rampaging
hurricanes decimating the eastern seaboard of the USA. The climatic
showdown delivers a heart pounding finale. A unique blend of mythology
and futuristic writing, Watchtowers: Air is an excellent beginning to the
Watchtower series.
