The book begins in the year 1600 before Christ was born. The fight between
the forces of good and evil is still working at large between angels and
demons. The biggest battle is Malik the demon against Michael the
Archangel. The outcome leads to Malik being sent to earth. The reader is
then thrust to our present time. The introduction of fourteen year old
Grant is interesting. A very intelligent boy with gifts of mind reading
becomes involved with the wrong crowd. His reasons for picking the bad
crowd have a lot to do with the death of his father. Grant ends up being
sent to Knollwood Academy for naughty boys after his public school decides
to expel him.
Grant discovers that this school not just has a good reputation for
helping troubled boys but a lot of boys have disappeared and been hurt
there. This leads back to the beginning of the story. Malik the demon has
sinister plans and it involves Knollwood Academy. Grant Taylor is in dire
danger and may be too late to save himself or the students.
The Academy is a spine tingling thriller. The first page had me
enthralled, and wondering what was going to happen next. I felt horrible
for Grant, rooting for him right from the beginning. This is not a book to
read alone or even at nighttime, unless your a very hardened horror
reader. Although it is a tale of good versus evil, the author has put a
nice twist to it. A very “scary" book to add to those that like being
scared half to death. If you enjoy eerie stories, The Academy will be sure
to please.
